i feel like changing my blogskin after A's. it's like dunno-many-years old already. eh but i love those photos on the left okay. i was so crazy over photography then. one of those photos even won me 50 bucks in a photo competition. try to guess which? hehh.

i even set up a deviantart account to post some nice photos. haven't touched it for a long time though. bet it's all dusty and covered with cobwebs now.
i really really love this photo. esplanade in it's full glory. well almost. (: speaking of esplanade, must ask miss chan what types of esplanade questions cambridge can come out with. we're totally clueless.
I MISS NANYANG. i was just reminiscing about it yesterday and i missed my alma mater so much that something inside me ached.
few days ago ruth eunice and i were talking about which school sort of made a deeper impact in us, JC or secondary school. ruth chose the former, eunice chose the latter. i didn't know the answer then. but now i'm very sure of my answer.
quoting stella, "ny feels more like a home". quoting charm a long time ago, "you can take me out of nanyang, but you can't take nanyang out of me". these were words that spoke my heart.
and gosh life in ny was just so happening man! (as compared to JC)
let's see. we had our annual lifeskills' camps, as a batch! team-building games and stuff. super fun. except for one year when we had OBS instead. i was really blessed with a fantastic sec1-2 class, 2/1'03! the most bonded class i've ever been in. haha other classes remembered us as the most bonded and enthu class. winning cheering competitions, laughing together, and even crying together on the last day of school. my first time crying in front of so many people.
and there were the choral nights in sec1 and 2, when every class had to put up a play each for the public. i acted as a frog princess once! hahahaha. and there were the yearly national day celebrations, which i wouldn't miss for anything in the world. a student rock band would be playing on the stage and everyone would just sing and jump along to upbeat national day songs. we would kick balloons, run around the quadrangle, take photos and just get high with our classes.
and there were the annual youth day funfair that everyone participated in. games food and services. yeah and all the money raised went to charity. damn cool. and there was the time when our whole school attempted to make the longest popiah, to enter the guiness world of records and to raise funds. i think we practically used up all the tables in the canteen. and there was the walkathon to SIM. those annual combined sports meet with the chicken house (sorry poon, couldn't resist it hehh). that time performing NANZHONGQUAN in front of the boys. i used to think it was really dumb, but now i think it's funny.
oh and there were the times when we took school photos at the track! how cool is that? we never did that in SA. sure there were class photos, but school photos!?!?! we had to pile those long tables and benches in stacks so as to fit every single person. sec 1 my class was at the first row, sec 4 my class was at the last row, 4 benches tall? scary.
what i really missed most was actually our fantastic arts culture. after being in a school that fervently supports the arts, i feel that SA is really pale in comparison. yeah i know it takes a lot of time to build a culture. we'd have those bi-annual NANYANG FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS. i wasn't from band then, but i remember somehow i felt their sadness when they didn't get what they wanted for SYF? yeah and modern dance. the school was sad too. and of course i really felt the JOY for all our GWH CCAs. i remember 4/14 forcing sarah to play her SYF piece in class for us cos we loved the erhu tune. FENG NIAN JI. some even set it as their ringtone super funny. and all those bollywood indian dance craze.
the culture. gosh it was so great. still remember sarah telling me that she can't find an arts culture as good as ny's in rjc. sigh sigh sigh.
and of course where would i be without my AEP family? i really miss doing art with such a crazy bunch of people. those unforgettable memories in our dearest artrooms. haha and i got my gate-climbing skills from those coursework days. still remember the day before submission karen and i wanted to go nj open house, so we just climbed the gate cos we didn't want to walk the long way. afterall, nj was just next door. yeah and the people who saw us applauded? haha so weird.
oh and ny has no cranky librarians. our library opens at 630am! used to go the "cozy corner" on some early mornings.
i think as a whole, i really learnt much more in ny. wholistic education i call it. man i really missed those days! =(((((((
there she goes
