i don't get it.
this is wrong, all wrong!
how can a surrealistic painting be completed by means of automatism?
it usually takes months, or sometimes even years to complete a painting.
and when the time comes,
i'm sure whatever content must have gone through some form of thought process.
by the time dali finished painting his melting clocks,
i'm sure he'd have some thoughts about them in his mind.
even action painters like pollock and de kooning have denied total spontaneity okay.
i guess automatism best suits only dadaism and performance art.
and drawings, not paintings or sculptures!
quick ways and means to express quick trains of thoughts.
maybe i should try total automatic blogging one day.
