rachel once said, "
straight lines don't exist in nature."
how true huh. you can never find a perfectly straight leaf vein, or a perfectly straight blood vessel, or a perfectly straight wave. but it makes me wonder how straight lines come about in the first place. how did the person who invented a ruler invent a ruler? it doesn't make sense. even the finest artist can never draw a perfectly straight line with his/her freehand. and i can bet piet mondrian used a template for his stupid futuristic paintings.
sigh. i got reminded about aep again today and boy, i felt so nostalgic. i guess it's true when people say that you'll only miss the water when it's gone. those four artrooms were like home to me for FOUR whole years. and the aepers plus teachers were like family to me, esp during that o'level period.
these are things that i can never ever find in SA art. i don't really feel a sense of belonging in the SA artroom. i even had to ASK for paper, ASK for palette, KNOCK for people to open the door for me because of the stupid biometrics. but in ny, things were so different. the various materials and mediums were already there for us to use. i don't remember having to ask mr lim whether i can take a piece of drawing paper.
mrs teo's words came true. she warned us that we will miss aep like mad. well, at least it came true for me. i miss coursework chionging! i miss all the gate-climbing. i miss the mac lab. i miss MARBLEBLAST GOLD. i miss the fivestones. i miss that smelly fixative room. i miss mr lim's chair of regrets. i miss that creepy skeleton sculpture. i miss the darkroom and the amazing pinhole photography we did. i miss our beautiful gallery. DE SALON. i miss eating in the artroom and getting shouted at exasperatedly by mr lim. i miss mr ellis! i miss all his funny antics and jokes. i miss doing our bloody sculpture with stella, the biggest artwork i'd ever done. i miss that area near the stairs, the most peaceful place in school. i miss every single aeper, most of whom were ex-2/1ers, which made them even more special to me. i miss all the laughter, all the JOY (hahaha), all the fun, all the craziness, all the tears, all the anger, all the frustration, all the boredom, all the highs and lows, ups and downs that we had gone through together. I MISS TIAN.
I MISS NY AEP. and i'm darned proud to be an ny aeper.
the next few days are gonna be hell for me. i hope i will survive.
there she goes
